Where does confidence come from?
I think confidence comes from many many many different areas…Nailing workouts is probable the most influential way for me to gain confidence…I had a real confidence boost this past Friday morning…My workout went well. Workouts like this…stick in my brain. They help me to REALLY believe in myself. It reaffirms me that I am making fitness gains and that I am on the right track to achieving my goals.
My last workout was Tuesday (the purple panty elephant day)…Since then it has just be easy aerobic days…easy 10 Wednesday, easy 10 Thursday morning, easy 9 Thursday night, and then my Friday workout of longer intervals…This workout was done alone. I did a shorter warm-up than usual…2 mile warm-up w/ just a couple strides and then I got right into it…
workout assignment: 5k @ Goal Marathon Pace, 3k@Half-Marathon Pace, 2k@10K pace, 2x1K@5k pace…All with 3:00-4:00 recovery between reps.
Workout location: Shaker Lake
Going into the workout I was really worried that the 2k’s and 1k’s were going to be impossible…the speed seemed fast after the, now famous, purple panty elephant debacle during my last workout…where I couldn’t even run 800′s at a sub 5:50 pace. I wanted to keep it conservative in the beginning and listen to my body…well, that plan I had worked great—NOT! Not even close!!!!!! By looking at the details you can see I went faster than workout assignment was. I was definitely concerned after I came through the first mile in 5:53…when I was really suppose to be running closer to 6:12pace…I thought I had really screwed myself. I ended up finishing the 5k pretty good and stayed pretty even paced. After that first interval I decided I better do the full 4 minutes recovery if I wanted to finish the workout. As the workout continued—I kept rolling right along. I was able to keep hitting the paces. My last 1k was a little bit slower, but I did finish right on the incline part of the loop…and my heart rate averages for the rep of 1k’s were pretty nice…as in I wasn’t maxed out by any means…172 and 173…intense, but no 182 average…that gets a little bit uncomfortable.
I am really pleased with where my fitness appears to be at.
Side note: I did notice after my last “not so hot” workout that I was down a couple lbs.’s—do NOT worry Mom, I am still the big and strong girl (more like a brick shit house) you know me as, but just dehydrated…so, the moral here is: liquids liquids liquids…the simplest of tasks one would think…My problem of hydration would EASILY be resolved if I just ordered up some more Lemon-Lime Nuun…Yum Yum—FAVORITE FLAVOR! I better get on that PRONTO.
Today was an easy trail run of 10 miles and tomorrow is an easy 20 mile long run…I will just be getting in time on my feet with no specific pace.
The hubs and I have special guests this weekend…they came to us from the great state of Noooooorth Daaakoootta. Which to some people is the land of no electricity, no civilization, snow 365 days a year, no daylight, no wireless internet…so basically just hell. LOL. Seriously people… North Dakota civilians put their pants on one leg at a time just like everyone else in the world. Weird I know. I am not from North Dakota, but have spent considerable and memorable time there—GO SIOUX! Our special guests go by “The Judge” and “Big Guns.” We really like having visitors! They are here just until tomorrow. We experienced the Chocolate Bar for the first time last night…it is located in Downtown Cleveland. I would rate it as “so-so.” So I guess we are not really going to rush back there anytime soon. Tonight we plan to go somewhere in the Tremont area. Oh, and yesterday My friend elisariva.com, “Big Gun’s, and I got pedicures together…the salon lady thought she needed to show me the amount of callous she scraped off my feat!…and the only thoughts in my head were…Yeah lady, I worked hard for those! Put your cheese grater away now!
TWO NEW FINDS FOR THE DAY:
To do a “sock-bun” in your hair…just use a compression calf sleeve! No need to ruin a pair of tube socks…and WHO even has those anymore?? I am for sure not cutting a pair of compression tube socks Those are WAAAAAAAY tooo valuable!
I also found this new favorite saying today:
Keep it real people!
